It’s Hard to Stop a Trane…
Well, this 1995 Trane RTHB on R22 was certainly slowing down… There are 4 x stator thermistor pins that over time, will corrode. The image of those tiny bubbles around the thread of the pin was enough to warrant a serious teardown.
Gas charge out, starter panel removal, opening of motor housing to remove the 6 x stator terminals & 4 x thermistor pins, then replacement with new Trane OEM items.
The entire chiller was then pressure tested & checked for further leaks… 25-year-old o-rings tend to leak at 1000kPa, so off came the entire motor & discharge assembly… a few more Trane OEM o-rings later, the chiller was then returned to full service (pressure test, evacuation, insulation, re-charge etc…).
Trane Chillers are one of the major OEM brands that the team at Airvision specialise in. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!!
